How to make your small outdoor area larger

1. Extend the space’s paving 

You can easily make a garden feel wider through spreading the same paving material across the whole space. Light-coloured gravel can with pavers can make a space look enlarged and vibrant. This little trick creates something of an optical illusion – it invigorates the space whilst making it look wider – perfect for courtyards and smaller backyards. 

2. Make your borders green 

Small backyards and courtyards are often bordered by high fences which can make a space feel cramped and restricting. One of the best ways to add a more natural, peaceful vibe to a high-walled space is to grow greenery up the wall. Through growing climbers up the wall, the greenery will connect with the lower garden beds and perfectly round out the space. 

3. Simplicity is stunning 

By alleviating your space of any clutter and unneeded plants you will make the area feel so much cleaner and spacious. You can even install a small decking to cover the space and reduce any unwanted mess. But a decking doesn’t have to mean avoiding greenery altogether – you can place large potted plants and trees around the borders to give the space an elegant feel.
